Sylvain Gloux brings more than 10 years of experience in airline strategic fleet management and aircraft trading, leasing and financing, having worked for airlines and financial institutions. His particular strengths lie in complex cross-border transaction origination, evaluation, structuring, negotiation and execution.
Recently, Sylvain Gloux played a key role in the aviation book management and the restructurings of several transactions in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic for a large European bank. He previously worked in the aviation division of the leading transportation finance specialist, originating, structuring and executing structured finance transactions, and contributing to a variety of projects including third party loan portfolio acquisitions, restructurings and advisory mandates.
He advised the senior management of a global group of cargo airlines on fleet management strategies, including the purchase or lease of aircraft and engines, fleet disposal and retirement, and financing. He also played a key role in the strategic and financial restructuring of a leading regional airline in the UK, advising the executive management on and implementing a new fleet strategy. This consisted of the restructuring of the existing fleet and financing commitments, as well as the detailed evaluation of new fleet and financing options, contributing to save over US$ 200 million costs to the airline.
Sylvain Gloux earned a MSc in Air Transport Management from Cranfield University and a MS in International Risks Management from HEC School of Management. He serves on the executive committees of the Humanitarian branch of the ISTAT Foundation and has given guest lectures to universities and leading industry conferences and has been recognised as one of 40 under 40 future industry leaders by the Airline Economics magazine. He is a Fellow Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Honourable Company of Air Pilots and is a UK licensed private pilot.
Sylvain currently sits on the executive committee of the UK Aviation Club, having been elected in 2017 and is standing for re-election with the objective to continue the work of the committee in attracting new members – in particular younger generation and a more diversified membership base – and pursue initiatives to bring more events and benefits to members and strengthen the global reputation of the club.
